WHAT IS REFLEXOLOGY

Reflexology is an art and a science that views the feet, hands and ears as maps that represent the entire body.  Reflexology is an effective touch based modality in which specific thumb and finger pressure techniques are used systematically to different parts of the foot. This stimulates "reflexive" points corresponding to different parts of the body.  In this manner, a Reflexology session can provide deep relaxation, improve circulation, and create overall stress reduction in a gentle and non-invasive way.

History of Reflexology

In the late 1800's, neurological studies in Germany and England provided the scientific basis for the development of modern Reflexology.  The Foot Reflexology that is known today in the United States, was mainly developed by three people: Dr. William Fitzgerald (1872-1942), Dr. Joe Shelby Riley (1856-1947), and the "Mother of modern Reflexology" Eunice Ingham (1889-1974). Ingham combined a theory called Zone Therapy with pressure massage of the feet and created what is now, the modern version of Foot Reflexology, with accurate foot charts that are still used today.

COVID-19 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

To help prevent the transmission of all respiratory infections, including COVID-19, I adhere to standardized infection control measures (universal precautions).  I follow routine cleaning and disinfection strategies, using cleansers and hospital grade disinfectants between clients as well as hand washing, changing of sheets and towels, face masks and gloves (if needed) between clients per guidelines set by the FDA and CDC.

UPDATE:  November 1,  2023:

Clients will now have the option to not wear a mask during their session. I will still be using the medical grade air purifier in the room. The option of not wearing a mask, may change again in the future, due to the state regulations and the strain of Omicron (COVID-19) virus that is now spreading.  Please know that I am fully vaccinated and have had my booster shots as well.

If you do not have a mask to wear and wish to wear one during the session, I will provide one for you to keep us both safe.
